Chapheau is a self-taught contemporary painter whose practice investigates the emotional, political, and psychological dimensions of human connection. Beginning his artistic career in 2020, he has rapidly developed a visual language rooted in expressive mark-making, saturated color, and raw figuration that draws on the legacies of Neo-Expressionism, street art, and post-pop visual culture.

Across Chapheau’s work, painting functions as both confrontation and inquiry. His canvases are populated by distorted figures, fragmented faces, and symbolic bodies that oscillate between vulnerability and defiance. Through this aesthetic tension, the artist positions painting as an active tool for advocacy, dialogue, and self-interrogation, inviting viewers to sit with discomfort while reflecting on the social narratives that shape identity, belonging, and power.

Chapheau’s works are currently held in private collections and exhibited in galleries across Europe, North America, Australia, and Africa, often presented alongside artists including Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Harland Miller, Robert Motherwell, Joan Miró, Bob Dylan, and Mr. Brainwash.

For the past three years, Chapheau has lived and worked in Amsterdam, where his studio practice is based in the waterfront district of IJburg. From this atelier, he continues to develop a body of work that situates painting as a site of empathy and cultural dialogue.
